Matt

“Are you hungry?” I kissed Natalia’s forehead, my hand tracing lazy circles on her hip as we laid in bed.

“A little, maybe.” She tried to move back, and I held her closer, not willing or ready to let her go yet. “I should get dressed.”

“Why?”

“My plan was to go to the grocery store to pick up some stuff to make you dinner tonight,” she said.

I cupped her firm ass and gave it a squeeze. “I have a better idea. Why don’t we stay right where we are, and I’ll order in for dinner tonight?”

“I said I would cook you dinner.”

“True. You could go for groceries, or you could stay in my bed and I’ll eat your pussy again.”

She laughed and pressed a kiss against my chest. “That’s not even a choice. Screw going for groceries.”

I made a dramatic sigh. “Thank God. If you had chosen grocery shopping over pussy eating, I would have had to become a monk out of shame.”

She poked me in the side. “Oh please, you’ve had enough practice that it’s practically impossible for you to be bad at sex.”

Shame made me tense up. Until Nat, I’d never felt any regret over how many women I’d slept with, but knowing the way she felt about my sleeping around made me wish I had lived the life of a monk.

“Matt?” Natalia sat up and studied me carefully. “I’m so sorry, that was a hurtful thing to say.”

“Nah, it’s fine. I have a reputation for a reason.” I smiled at her, but she shook her head.

“No, it isn’t fine. I shouldn’t have said it, and I feel terrible that I did. I’m judging you for the very thing that I’m now doing and that makes me a real toad.”

“Hey, I deserve it. I do sleep around a lot.” I wanted to tell her that I hadn’t slept with anyone in over six months, wanted to somehow try and convince her that I was a changed man, but what good would that do? Natalia didn’t want the new and improved Matt. She wanted the old Matt, the guy who didn’t date or fall in love, the guy who was only looking for one thing.

As if she’d read my mind, Natalia said, “So, um, what we’re doing here is a short-term thing, right?”

“Right.”

“I mean, I know you’re not into doing the relationship thing and I’m totally one hundred percent okay with that. I’m really, um, looking for…”

“Someone to scratch your itch?”

She flushed but nodded. “Yeah. I was thinking that maybe we could, uh, have some fun together until Phoebe comes back. Nothing serious, just two adults having fun together. You’re good with that, right?”

“Sure. It’s what I do best.” Even I could hear the bitterness in my voice, and I plastered a smile on my face when Natalia studied me.

“Are you positive?” She chewed on her bottom lip. “I mean, it’s okay if this was enough for you. I totally get it and I don’t want to pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.
